Portraits by Linda Champanier

Portraits were my first love in painting. My daughter once wrote that I "see people through God's eyes" when I paint them. I work to portray the essence and spirit of each individual in my portraits. I studied with the renowned portrait artist Freda Dreany in Stamford, Connecticut, and her guidance and inspiration will always have an influence on my paintings.

I'm a member of the Portrait Society of America and a board member of the Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists (CSOPA). Click the links to see pencil sketches I did at the Portrait Society of America conference of Burton Silverman, Dan Greene, and two models, Al and John. I am currently studying with fine artist Andrew Lattimore at Westchester Art Workshop.

I am available for portrait commissions in Fairfield County, Connecticut, and the greater Hudson Valley in New York, with a studio in the Catskills.

To prepare reference material for the portrait, I will schedule an appointment to do sketches from life and take photos. It's important to meet the individuals and get a sense of what they love, what their gestures are, and what pose will work well, as well as discuss your wishes for style and size. For information on how to commission a portrait and prices, please email Linda Champanier.
